Of course, the real-world lifespan will depend on factors like weather conditions and usage. The lights are built to be tough, with an IP67 waterproof rating for the light strings and adapter, and an IP65-rated control box. This means they are protected from dust and can withstand being submerged in water up to one meter deep. They are also designed to operate in a wide range of temperatures, from -4°F to 140°F (-20°C to 60°C).
Govee also backs their Pro lights with a three-year limited warranty, which provides peace of mind that your investment is protected. While issues can occasionally arise, my experience has been that these lights are incredibly resilient and a reliable choice for long-term outdoor decor.
How Many Strands of Govee Permanent Lights Can You Connect?
The number of strands you can connect depends on which version you have. The standard Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights are not designed to be extended in the same way as the Pro version. You buy them in a set length, and that's what you work with.
The Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro series, however, is designed for greater flexibility. The 100ft and 150ft kits can be extended, but the total length should not exceed 150ft without an additional power source. If you need to cover more ground, the 200ft Pro kit is your best bet. It includes a Govee driver module, which is a small power booster that gets installed after the fifth strand (at the 150ft mark) to ensure the lights at the end of the line are just as bright as the ones at the beginning.
It's crucial to follow Govee's guidelines on extending the lights. Attempting to connect more strands than the system is designed for can lead to dimming, flickering, or even damage to the power adapter and control box.
